Day One established the foundation: redemption originates by Yahuah and flows through Yahusha the High Priest, not around covenant order and not apart from obedience.
Day Two now addresses why Yahusha’s priesthood matters—and why Scripture insists on emphasizing it so heavily.
The Bible does not introduce Yahusha as High Priest as a theological side note. It presents His priesthood as the solution to every failure of human mediation that preceded Him.
This teaching answers a necessary question:
What makes Yahusha’s priesthood different—and why does it secure covenant faithfulness rather than dissolve it?
Priesthood Was Always Central to Covenant Order
Exodus 19:5–6; Leviticus 10:10–11
From Sinai onward, priesthood existed to guard holiness, teach Torah accurately, and preserve distinction between what is set-apart and what is common. Israel’s identity as a kingdom of priests depended on faithful mediation.
Priests were commanded to:
teach Yahuah’s instructions without alteration
model obedience before the people
guard covenant boundaries
When priesthood functioned rightly, the people were protected.
When priesthood failed, the people were led astray (Malachi 2:8).
The failure was never Torah.
The failure was men entrusted with it.
The Problem With the Levitical Priesthood
Hebrews 7:11–12, 23; Hosea 4:6
Hebrews is direct: perfection could not come through the Levitical priesthood—not because Torah was flawed, but because the priesthood itself was temporary, mortal, and subject to corruption.
Levitical priests:
died and were replaced
sinned and needed atonement themselves
sometimes violated Torah instead of teaching it
Scripture never hides this reality. Hosea states plainly that the people were destroyed because knowledge was rejected—and priests bore responsibility for that rejection (Hosea 4:6).
A temporary priesthood produced a temporary stability.
Yahusha’s Priesthood Is Unchangeable
Hebrews 7:24–26; Hebrews 13:8
Yahusha is presented as fundamentally different:
He lives forever
His priesthood does not pass to another
He is holy, undefiled, and separate from sin
Scripture calls His priesthood unchangeable. That word matters.
It means:
no succession
no corruption
no deviation
no doctrinal drift
Because Yahusha does not change (Hebrews 13:8), His priesthood never degrades. What failed under men is secured in Messiah.
One Mediator Does Not Mean No Covenant Order
Hebrews 4:14–16; 1 Timothy 2:5
Scripture declares that Yahusha is the one mediator between Elohim and man. This truth removes corrupt mediation—but it does not remove accountability or obedience.
Yahusha mediates:
access to the Father
forgiveness of sin
covenant faithfulness
He does not mediate rebellion.
The throne of grace is not a throne of exemption. It is a throne approached with reverence and obedience, not presumption.
Yahusha Secures Obedience, Not Autonomy
Romans 8:3–4; Matthew 7:21–23
Romans teaches that Messiah accomplished what the flesh could not, so that the righteous requirement of the Torah might be fulfilled in us.
That fulfillment is not theoretical. It is lived.
Yahusha Himself warned that religious activity without obedience ends in rejection. Lawlessness—not lack of belief—is the disqualifying issue (Matthew 7:23).
A faithful High Priest produces faithful people.
Why This Matters Now
This teaching exposes a dangerous assumption: that removing priesthood structure somehow produces freedom.
Scripture teaches the opposite.
When priesthood is removed without being replaced by faithfulness, chaos follows. Yahusha does not eliminate priesthood—He perfects it.
His priesthood:
restores trust in covenant mediation
eliminates human corruption
preserves Torah
empowers obedience
Anything else is not restoration. It is collapse.
Watchman Conclusion
Yahusha’s priesthood is not symbolic.
It is functional, eternal, and covenantal.
Where men failed, He remained faithful.
Where instruction was corrupted, He upheld it.
Where access was abused, He secured it rightly.
This is why Scripture insists He is High Priest forever.
Tomorrow, we will confront the next necessary truth: Yahusha as the Living Torah, and why following Him means walking exactly as He walked.
