THE FATHER AND THE SON
PART 13 — REFUTING THE ERRORS
Testing Every Doctrine Through the Whole Counsel of Elohim
Every generation has faced the same challenge. The enemy has never needed to remove the Scriptures. He only needs to distort them. From the garden until today, deception has always consisted of mixing truth with error. That is why the greatest danger is not outright unbelief. The greatest danger is believing part of the truth while rejecting the rest.
This is exactly what has happened with the doctrine of the Father and the Son.
One theological system emphasizes the passages revealing Yahusha’s divine glory while explaining away the passages that distinguish Him from the Father.
Another emphasizes the passages revealing His submission to the Father while minimizing the passages that reveal His divine identity.
Both errors begin with the same mistake.
Neither allows the whole counsel of Elohim to speak.
The purpose of this study has never been to attack people.
It has been to test doctrines.
People deserve our love.
False doctrine deserves examination.
The Bereans were called noble because they searched the Scriptures daily to determine whether the things they were hearing were true (Acts 17:11). Every doctrine must pass that same test today.
The first error we must examine is Oneness theology.
Oneness correctly recognizes that there is one Elohim.
It correctly exalts Yahusha.
It correctly rejects the idea of multiple gods.
Those are important truths.
But then it goes beyond what the Scriptures actually say.
Instead of allowing the relationship between the Father and the Son to remain exactly as the Bible presents it, it collapses that relationship into one person.
The problem is not that Oneness exalts Yahusha.
Scripture exalts Yahusha above every name.
The problem is that it explains away the genuine relationship between the Father and the Son.
Throughout the Gospels, Yahusha continually distinguishes Himself from the Father.
The Father sends.
The Son is sent.
The Father loves the Son.
The Son loves the Father.
The Father speaks from heaven.
The Son stands in the Jordan.
The Father glorifies the Son.
The Son glorifies the Father.
The Father gives.
The Son receives.
The Father raises.
The Son is raised.
These are not isolated passages.
They are the consistent testimony of all four witnesses.
Perhaps the greatest difficulty for the Oneness position is John 17.
Yahusha prays,
“That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You…” (John 17:21)
Again,
“That they may be one as We are one.” (John 17:22)
This is Yahusha defining His own statement,
“I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30)
If oneness means one person, then every believer would become the Father as well.
No one believes that.
Why?
Because Yahusha Himself defines oneness as perfect unity, not identity of person.
John 17 becomes one of the strongest internal refutations of the Oneness position because Yahusha explains His own words.
The second error is Arianism and similar teachings that reduce Yahusha to a created being.
These systems emphasize Yahusha’s submission, His obedience, His receiving authority, and His being sent by the Father.
Those passages are all true.
The mistake comes when those functional relationships are used to deny what the Scriptures reveal concerning His divine glory.
John declares,
“The Word was with Elohim, and the Word was Elohim.” (John 1:1)
Paul declares,
“He is the image of the invisible Elohim.” (Colossians 1:15)
“In Him all the fullness was pleased to dwell.” (Colossians 1:19)
“In Him dwells all the fullness of the Elohim bodily.” (Colossians 2:9)
Hebrews declares Him to be,
“The brightness of His glory and the exact representation of His being.” (Hebrews 1:3)
Thomas confesses,
“My Master and my Elohim.” (John 20:28)
Isaiah says Yahuah alone is Savior (Isaiah 43:11).
The Apostolic Witness repeatedly calls Yahusha Savior.
Isaiah says Yahuah is the First and the Last (Isaiah 44:6).
Yahusha says,
“I am the First and the Last.” (Revelation 1:17; 22:13)
Isaiah declares that every knee will bow to Yahuah (Isaiah 45:23).
Paul applies that very passage to Yahusha (Philippians 2:9–11).
These passages cannot simply be ignored.
The Scriptures reveal far more concerning Yahusha than a mere created messenger.
The third error is perhaps less common but equally dangerous.
It is the idea that the Father and the Son are two separate gods.
The Scriptures never allow this conclusion.
From Genesis to Revelation there remains only one Elohim.
The Shema still stands.
“Hear, O Yisra’el: Yahuah our Elohim, Yahuah is one.” (Deuteronomy 6:4)
Yahusha affirmed it.
The Apostles affirmed it.
The Kingdom rests upon it.
There is one Elohim.
Not two.
Not three gods.
One.
This is why we must refuse false choices.
We do not have to choose between the Father’s glory and the Son’s glory.
We do not have to choose between unity and distinction.
We do not have to choose between authority and submission.
The Scriptures reveal all of these truths simultaneously.
The Father remains the Father.
The Son remains the Son.
The Ruach HaKodesh remains the Ruach.
The Father purposes.
The Son accomplishes.
The Ruach empowers.
Everything advances toward one Kingdom under one Elohim.
The problem with theological systems is that they usually begin with conclusions.
The Hebraic method begins with revelation.
Theological systems ask,
“How can I make every verse fit my doctrine?”
The Hebraic mindset asks,
“What is every witness revealing?”
That difference changes everything.
The Four Witnesses never contradict one another.
Torah agrees with the Prophets.
The Prophets agree with the Writings.
The Writings agree with the Apostolic Witness.
The Apostolic Witness confirms everything that came before it.
The Father is not the Son.
The Son is not the Father.
The Ruach HaKodesh is not the Father or the Son.
Yet together They reveal one covenant.
One Kingdom.
One eternal purpose.
One glorious plan of redemption.
When every witness is allowed to speak, confusion disappears.
The Father is glorified.
The Son is glorified.
The Ruach glorifies the Son.
Everything returns to the glory of Yahuah.
This is why the whole counsel of Elohim remains the safest place to stand.
Not tradition.
Not philosophy.
Not denominational systems.
The written Word.
The Father has spoken.
The Son has revealed Him.
The Ruach continues to lead His people into all truth.
May we never settle for half the truth when Elohim has graciously given us the whole counsel.
