Unveiling the Truth: Debunking the Lunar Sabbath Theory - Blog #6 /16 - The moon and its cycle

The moon and its cycle play a significant role in biblical teachings. When the moon is directly between the Earth and the Sun, it’s referred to as the new moon, conjunction, or dark moon. At this point, the moon has no light on it, marking the start of a new monthly cycle. This phase is known as the Chodesh moon, symbolizing renewal, refreshment, and restoration.

The first day’s full light will be visible the next evening, confirming the completion of the first day and the beginning of the second day. After 15 sunsets, the moon will be perfectly full.

The lunar cycle, averaging between 29.3 to 29.8 days, is not divisible by 7. Therefore, it’s impossible for the lunar cycle to establish the weekly Sabbath cycle. This would directly violate Yahuah’s unchanging word and rhythm of a 7-day sabbatical cycle.

This 7-day sabbatical cycle is also seen in the counting of the Omer from First Fruits to Shavuot, which is 7 weeks of 7 days, totaling 49 days, plus one day. It’s also observed in the Sabbath year (shmita; Hebrew: שמיטה, literally “release”), also known as the sabbatical year or shǝvi’it (שביעית‎, literally “seventh”), or “Sabbath of The Land”. This is the seventh year of the seven-year agricultural cycle mandated by the Torah in the Land (Leviticus 25:3–6). The 7th year is known as the Sabbatical Year when the land is left to lie fallow and all agricultural activities, including plowing, planting, pruning, and harvesting, are forbidden after the prior 6 years of activities.

The Year of Jubilee, a time of restoration, is another example of the Bible’s emphasis on the number 7. After all, there are seven days in a week, and the seventh day is supposed to be the Sabbath, a day dedicated to rest and worship. After seven cycles of seven years, we reach the 50th year, the Year of Jubilee.

The seventh-day Sabbath is also prophetic, serving as a foreshadowing of the coming millennial Kingdom and the 1000-year reign of the Messiah. This understanding aligns with the biblical teachings and historical records.
