Why Claiming Messiah While Refusing Obedience Is Spiritual Fraud

INTRODUCTION — THE MOST COMMON DAMNING DECEPTION

There is no deception more widespread, more destructive, or more tolerated in modern Christianity than this:

That a person can belong to Messiah without submitting to Him.

This lie has filled churches, padded numbers, built institutions, and lulled millions into false peace—while Scripture screams the opposite.

People are not rejecting Messiah.

They are redefining Him.

They want a Savior without a King.

Forgiveness without repentance.

Grace without obedience.

Faith without surrender.

Scripture does not recognize that version of Christianity.

SECTION 1 — “LORD, LORD” IS NOT FAITH, IT IS A CLAIM

Messiah’s words in Matthew 7 are not misunderstood—they are intentionally ignored.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21)

This passage does not condemn atheists.

It condemns professors of faith.

They say the right words.

They use the right titles.

They even invoke His name.

But Messiah does not ask what they said.

He examines what they did.

The Greek verb ποιέω (poieō) does not mean occasional effort.

It means continuous practice—a lifestyle shaped by obedience.

Messiah is not denying entry because of imperfection.

He is denying entry because of insubordination.

SECTION 2 — PROFESSION CAN BE A FORM OF DENIAL

Paul exposes a terrifying contradiction:

“They profess that they know Elohim, but in works they deny Him.” (Titus 1:16)

This verse obliterates the idea that words determine allegiance.

To “profess” is verbal agreement.

To “deny” is to refuse submission.

Meaning: you can confess Christ with your mouth while rejecting Him with your life.

This is not ignorance.

This is hypocrisy—and Scripture treats it as spiritual treason.

SECTION 3 — LORDSHIP IS NOT SYMBOLIC

Messiah cuts straight to the issue:

“Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46)

Lordship is not poetic language.

It is a legal claim of authority.

Calling Messiah “Lord” while refusing His instruction is not grace—it is fraud.

You cannot claim ownership by Him while governing yourself.

You cannot say “He reigns” while you decide.

This is not about doctrine.

It is about jurisdiction.

Who rules?

SECTION 4 — JOHN’S VERDICT IS FINAL AND UNSOFTENED

John leaves no wiggle room:

“He who says, ‘I know Him,’ and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.” (1 John 2:4)

John does not call such a person:

immature

backsliding

struggling

in process

He calls him a liar.

The word “keep” (τηρέω, tēreō) means to guard carefully, to watch over, to preserve intentionally.

This is not casual belief.

It is deliberate allegiance.

John is not attacking weakness.

He is condemning refusal to submit.

SECTION 5 — STRUGGLE IS NOT THE SAME AS REBELLION

This is where people attempt to hide.

Scripture distinguishes clearly:

A true believer may:

stumble

repent

fight the flesh

return to obedience

A false believer:

resists correction

redefines commands

excuses sin

rejects accountability

calls lawlessness “grace”

The issue is not failure.

The issue is defiance.

Direction matters more than perfection.

SECTION 6 — FRUIT IS NOT OPTIONAL EVIDENCE

Messiah’s diagnostic is final:

“By their fruits you shall know them.” (Matthew 7:20)

Fruit is not:

church attendance

gifts

charisma

emotion

theology alone

Fruit is:

repentance

obedience

transformed desires

submission to truth

perseverance in righteousness

No fruit means no life.

not weak faith.

Dead faith.

SECTION 7 — WHY THIS MESSAGE IS HATED

This truth is rejected because it:

dismantles false assurance

exposes religious performance

demands surrender

threatens autonomy

removes excuses

It leaves no room for Christianity as identity, culture, or comfort.

It demands death.

That is why Messiah said:

“Few find it.”

SECTION 8 — THE FINAL TEST

Messiah will not judge claims.

He will judge allegiance.

Not what you believed.

But who you obeyed.

Not what you said.

But how you lived.

Not what label you wore.

But whether your life bowed.

CONCLUSION — THE LINE SCRIPTURE DRAWS

Christianity is not spoken.

It is lived.

Grace does not remove obedience.

Grace creates it.

Faith does not replace submission.

Faith proves it.

The question is not: “Do you believe in Messiah?”

The question is: Does Messiah rule you?
