The Stage Is Set
We live in an hour when the veil between the seen and unseen has grown thin. What was once confined to stone temples and carved idols has returned in digital screens, legislative chambers, and corporate boardrooms.
The Apostle Paul warned us plainly:
“Because we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in the heavenlies.” (Ephesians 6:12, TS-2009)
The ancient gods of Israel’s downfall — Baal, Ishtar, and Marduk — are not relics of mythology. They are real powers and principalities, shaping nations and seeking to enslave covenant people. Israel fell once under their spell. The West is falling now.
Baal — Dominion, Wealth, and Compromise
Baal (“lord, master”) was the storm-god of Canaan, demanding allegiance through state-sanctioned worship and national compromise. Kings of Israel built his altars, funded his prophets, and embedded his idolatry into law and culture.
“And they forsook יהוה Elohim of their fathers… and went after other mighty ones, the mighty ones of the people who were all around them, and bowed down to them, and provoked יהוה… and served Baʽal and the Ashtoreths.” (Judges 2:12–13, TS-2009)
Baal today:
- Economics enthroned — Wall Street altars, money as morality.
- Politics deified — government as savior, laws replacing Torah.
- Sacrifice renewed — abortion as “choice,” mirroring ancient child sacrifices.
- Syncretism normalized — faith blended with nationalism, prosperity gospels, and cultural compromise.
Ishtar — Sexuality, Confusion, and Weaponized Liberation
Ishtar (Inanna, Astarte, Ashtoreth) was the Queen of Heaven — goddess of sex, war, and chaos. She blurred male/female boundaries, demanded immorality, and exalted rebellion.
“The children are gathering wood, the fathers are kindling the fire, and the women are kneading their dough, to make cakes for the sovereigness of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to other mighty ones, to provoke Me.” (Jeremiah 7:18, TS-2009)
Ishtar today:
- Sexuality enthroned — pornography, hookup culture, idolization of pleasure.
- Gender confusion canonized — laws, education, and media erasing male/female.
- Liberation weaponized — radical feminism dismantling family and despising headship.
- Violence glamorized — rage and rebellion marketed as empowerment.
Marduk — Empire, Sorcery, and Control
Marduk (Bel) rose as Babylon’s chief deity, embodying empire, conquest, and centralization. He demanded assimilation and loyalty to Babylon’s system.
“Say, ‘Bĕl shall be taken, Marduk shall be broken. Her images shall be put to shame, her idols shall be broken.’” (Jeremiah 50:2, TS-2009)
Marduk today:
- Perpetual war — military-industrial complex feeding on bloodshed.
- Technocratic control — surveillance, censorship, digital currencies.
- Pharmakeia sorcery — manipulation through drugs, media, and propaganda (Rev 18:23).
- Cultural exile — children stripped of covenant identity by schools and systems.
Israel’s Failure — Our Warning
Whenever Israel bowed to these gods, judgment fell: famine, oppression, exile.
“This people shall rise and whore after the mighty ones of the strangers of the land… and forsake Me, and break My covenant… and I shall forsake them and hide My face.” (Deuteronomy 31:16–17, TS-2009)
Baal, Ishtar, and Marduk promise freedom, prosperity, and identity — but always deliver slavery and destruction. The West has enthroned them again. The pattern is repeating.
The Remnant Must Understand
“My people have perished for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being priest for Me.” (Hosea 4:6, TS-2009)
If the people of Yahuah do not recognize Baal in economics, Ishtar in sexuality, and Marduk in empire, they will not resist them. To “come out of her” (Revelation 18:4) is to see Babylon clearly and walk away from her altars.
The watchman’s task is to name the powers, warn the people, and call the remnant to covenant obedience.
