Grace, Obedience, and the Truth Most Refuse to Face
The law was never the problem. Rebellion was.

Now we come to the phrase that has been used more than any other to dismantle obedience:
“You are not under law but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
Entire systems have been built on this line.
Entire doctrines have been formed around it.
And yet—Paul does not leave it open to interpretation.
He defines it himself.
CONTEXT — PAUL ANSWERS HIS OWN STATEMENT
Paul immediately asks:
“Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?” (Romans 6:15)
And his answer is not ambiguous:
“Certainly not!”
That settles the issue before it even begins.
Whatever “not under law” means—
It does not mean freedom to sin.
DEFINE “UNDER” — GREEK HYPO (hupo)
The word “under” is:
hypo (hupo)
It means:
Under authority
Under jurisdiction
Under control
Under dominion
So this is not about:
Whether the law exists
This is about:
What authority you are under
DEFINE “UNDER LAW” CORRECTLY
“Under law” does not mean:
Obeying commandments
Following instruction
Living righteously
It means:
Under the law’s authority as a condemning system
Under:
Its penalty
Its judgment
Its sentence
Because you have violated it.
DEFINE “UNDER GRACE” CORRECTLY
“Under grace” does not mean:
Freedom to do whatever you want
It means:
Under restorative authority
Under:
Forgiveness
Mercy
Transformation
Empowerment
Grace is not the removal of structure.
It is the transfer of jurisdiction.
DOMINION — THIS IS THE CORE ISSUE
“For sin shall not have dominion over you…” (Romans 6:14)
This is about:
Rule
Control
Authority
Under law (as condemned):
Sin dominates
Condemnation rules
Under grace:
Sin loses dominion
Righteousness begins to rule
GALATIANS CONFIRMS — SECOND WITNESS
Galatians 3–4 uses the same phrase:
“Under the law”
Meaning:
Under the curse
Under the guardian
Under bondage before maturity
“Messiah redeemed us from the curse of the law…” (Galatians 3:13)
The curse is removed.
Not the law.
DEFINE THE CURSE CORRECTLY
The law does not curse.
Violation does.
The curse is:
The penalty applied when the law is broken
Messiah removes the penalty.
He does not remove the standard.
ROMANS 7 — PAUL’S OWN TESTIMONY
“The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” (Romans 7:12)
“I delight in the law of Elohim…” (Romans 7:22)
Paul never rejected the law.
He struggled with:
Sin in the flesh
Not:
The righteousness of the law
GRACE TRAINS — IT DOES NOT EXCUSE
“For the grace of Elohim… teaches us to deny ungodliness…” (Titus 2:11–12)
Grace:
Teaches
Corrects
Trains
Aligns
Grace is not passive.
Grace is active transformation.
YOU ARE NEVER AUTONOMOUS
“Do you not know… you are slaves of whom you obey…” (Romans 6:16)
You are always under authority.
Always.
The only question is:
Whose authority?
Sin → death
Righteousness → life
FREEDOM DEFINED CORRECTLY
“Having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.” (Romans 6:18)
Freedom is not:
Independence
Freedom is:
Alignment with righteousness
THE LAW STILL DEFINES SIN
Sin still exists.
Which means:
The law still defines it.
Remove the law—
Sin disappears.
And the entire argument collapses.
LAW OF LIBERTY — FINAL CONNECTION
“The perfect law of liberty…” (James 1:25)
The law becomes liberty when:
Condemnation is removed
The heart is transformed
The Spirit empowers obedience
IDENTITY SHIFT — FINAL FORM
You are not:
A criminal avoiding punishment
You are:
A son restored to alignment
Sons do not reject righteousness.
They walk in it.
THIS CONNECTS THE ENTIRE SERIES
Part 14 — Grace removes condemnation
Part 18 — Law becomes liberty
Part 20 — Not under law = not under penalty
Part 21 — Covenant renewed
Part 23 — Law written on the heart
Part 24 — System consolidation
Part 25 — One Lawgiver, full accountability
Now Part 26 seals everything:
“Not under law” means not under its condemnation—not free from its authority
FINAL SYSTEM SYNTHESIS
Law defines
Sin violates
Curse applies
Grace removes penalty
Standing restored
Spirit given
Heart transformed
Obedience becomes identity
THE CONTRADICTION THEY CANNOT ESCAPE
If “not under law” means no law:
Then:
Sin is undefined
Righteousness is undefined
Grace is unnecessary
Judgment is meaningless
Then:
The entire gospel collapses.
COMMON SENSE TEST — FINAL FORM
If a judge removes your sentence—
Did the law disappear?
No.
Your penalty was removed.
The standard remains.
THE REAL ISSUE — AUTHORITY
This is not confusion.
This is resistance.
People do not want:
Condemnation
But many also do not want:
Authority
So they redefine grace—
To remove both.
FINAL HAMMER — NO ESCAPE
“Not under law” does not remove the law.
It removes your condemnation under it—
So you can finally live in alignment with it.
Grace did not abolish the standard.
It restored you so you could walk in it.
And if you use grace to justify disobedience—
You are doing exactly what Paul rejected:
Turning grace into a license for sin
You don’t remove sin by removing the standard—you expose it and deal with it.
