AGAINST THE LAW — PART 15: “FULFILL THE LAW” — DID 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤔𐤏 (Yahusha) END IT OR ESTABLISH IT? 

Grace, Obedience, and the Truth Most Refuse to Face 

The law was never the problem. Rebellion was.

Now we come to one of the most weaponized statements in all of Scripture: 

“Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets… I came to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17) 

This is where people say: 

“He fulfilled it so we don’t have to.” 

“He completed it, so it’s over.” 

“Fulfill means end.” 

That is the claim. 

But Yahusha anticipated that distortion—and shut it down before it even started. 

YAHUSHA OPENS WITH A PREEMPTIVE WARNING 

“Do not think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets…” (Matthew 5:17) 

He doesn’t begin casually. 

He begins with a correction of a future misunderstanding. 

“Do not think this.” 

That means: 

People will think it. 

And they will be wrong. 

TWO WORDS — TWO CLAIMS — BOTH DENIED 

“I did not come to destroy… but to fulfill.” 

Destroy (kataluō) = tear down, abolish, dismantle 

Fulfill (plēroō) = fill up, bring to fullness, fully express 

So He denies: 

Abolition 

And declares: 

Full expression 

FULFILL DOES NOT MEAN TERMINATE 

This must be locked in permanently: 

Fulfill means: 

To live it fully 

To embody it correctly 

To reveal its complete meaning 

It does not mean: 

To cancel 

To end 

To make obsolete 

YAHUSHA DEFINES THE TIMELINE — NOT YOU 

“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not one jot or one tittle will pass from the law until all is fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:18) 

This is absolute. 

Not symbolic. 

Not flexible. 

Until heaven and earth pass away 

That is the duration. 

And they are still here. 

JOT AND TITTLE — NOTHING IS REMOVED 

Not the smallest letter (yod) 

Not the smallest stroke 

Nothing passes. 

Not partially. 

Not selectively. 

Not spiritually. 

Nothing. 

THE SECOND “FULFILLED” — DIFFERENT FUNCTION 

Verse 17 — plēroō (to bring to fullness) 

Verse 18 — genētai (to come to pass) 

Two different ideas: 

One = expression 

One = completion of events 

People collapse them into one—and create false doctrine. 

IF “FULFILL” MEANS END — THE TEXT DESTROYS ITSELF 

Apply their definition: 

“I came to end the law… but nothing ends until everything ends.” 

That is contradiction. 

So the interpretation is false. 

YAHUSHA DOES NOT RELAX THE LAW — HE INTENSIFIES IT 

“You have heard… but I say to you…” (Matthew 5) 

He raises the standard: 

Murder → anger 

Adultery → lust 

Oaths → integrity 

Love neighbor → love enemy 

He moves from: 

External behavior → internal reality 

THIS IS NOT REMOVAL — THIS IS EXPOSURE 

The Pharisees kept the letter. 

But missed the heart. 

Yahusha exposes: 

Surface obedience 

Hidden rebellion 

HE THEN ISSUES A DIRECT WARNING 

“Whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments… shall be called least in the kingdom…” (Matthew 5:19) 

This destroys the “law is gone” argument. 

He affirms: 

The commandments still stand 

Even the least matters 

AND THEN HE RAISES THE REQUIREMENT 

“Unless your righteousness exceeds…” (Matthew 5:20) 

Not less. 

Not removed. 

Greater. 

Deeper. 

More complete. 

THE LAW IS NOT REMOVED — IT IS INTERNALIZED 

This connects directly to the covenant: 

Jeremiah 31:33 — written on the heart 

Ezekiel 36:27 — Spirit causes obedience 

Yahusha is not removing the law. 

He is restoring its proper place. 

WHAT DOES “FULFILLING THE LAW” ACTUALLY MEAN? 

It means: 

Living it completely 

Walking it rightly 

Expressing its true intent 

Not ending it. 

PAUL CONFIRMS THIS — DO NOT MISS IT 

“Love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Romans 13:10) 

Love does not replace the law. 

Love is the law lived correctly. 

IF FULFILL = END — THEN LOVE ENDS THE LAW 

Apply the same logic: 

If fulfill means end— 

Then love ends the law. 

That collapses immediately. 

THE PROPHETIC DIMENSION — THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT OBEDIENCE 

The law and the prophets are tied together. 

Yahusha fulfills: 

Prophetic patterns 

Covenant promises 

Messianic expectation 

Not moral righteousness. 

THE LAW IS STILL THE STANDARD AT JUDGMENT 

Scripture teaches: 

Judgment according to works. 

Works require a standard. 

That standard is the law. 

So it cannot be gone. 

THE KINGDOM CONTEXT — THIS IS KINGDOM LAW 

Matthew 5 is not random teaching. 

It is: 

Kingdom instruction 

Meaning: 

This is how the kingdom operates. 

And the kingdom has not passed away. 

THE PROBLEM — PEOPLE WANT “FULFILL” TO MEAN ESCAPE 

Let’s be direct: 

People do not want transformation. 

They want exemption. 

So they redefine “fulfill” to mean: 

“I don’t have to.” 

But Yahusha says: 

Do not think that. 

THE CONTRADICTION THEY CANNOT ESCAPE 

If Yahusha ended the law: 

Why warn against breaking it? 

Why say nothing passes? 

Why intensify it? 

Why require greater righteousness? 

That system collapses. 

COMMON SENSE TEST — AGAIN 

If a teacher fulfills a lesson— 

Does the subject disappear? 

No. 

It means the subject is now understood correctly. 

FULL STRUCTURE — LOCK THIS IN 

Law given 

Misapplied 

Yahusha reveals 

Law intensified 

Heart exposed 

Spirit internalizes 

Obedience lived 

FINAL HAMMER — NO ESCAPE 

Yahusha did not come to end the law. 

He came to expose it. 

He came to reveal it. 

He came to live it fully. 

He came to bring it to its complete expression. 

And if you say “fulfilled” means removed— 

You are doing the exact thing He warned against: 

“Do not think this.” 

You don’t remove sin by removing the standard—you expose it and deal with it.
