Scripture First. Tradition Last. Test Everything. Hold Fast to What Is True.
Salvation is a gift received by faith, but Scripture repeatedly warns believers to remain faithful, endure to the end, and continue walking in covenant.
The phrase “Once Saved, Always Saved” never appears anywhere in Scripture.
Instead, Scripture presents two truths that must be held together.
First, salvation is entirely by the grace of YAHUAH through faith. It is not earned by works, merit, or personal righteousness (Ephesians 2:8โ9).
Second, the same Scriptures repeatedly warn believers not to fall away, not to abandon the faith, not to harden their hearts, and to endure faithfully until the end.
If a person could never fall away under any circumstance, these warnings would be meaningless.
SALVATION IS A GIFT
No one earns salvation.
No amount of Torah observance purchases redemption.
Messiah paid that price.
We are justified by grace through faith.
That is the clear testimony of Scripture.
BUT COVENANT REQUIRES CONTINUING FAITHFULNESS
Yahusha repeatedly said:
“He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13)
Paul warned believers:
“Be not highminded, but fear… otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans 11:20โ22)
The writer of Hebrews warned:
“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.” (Hebrews 3:12)
Again:
“For we are made partakers of Messiah, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:14)
Notice the word “if.”
CAN A BELIEVER FALL AWAY?
Scripture repeatedly says yes.
Hebrews 6:4โ6 describes those who had experienced the heavenly gift and then fell away.
Hebrews 10:26โ29 warns those who deliberately continue in sin after receiving the knowledge of the truth.
2 Peter 2:20โ22 describes people who escaped the corruption of the world through Messiah but became entangled again, saying their latter condition was worse than the first.
Paul warned Timothy about those who would depart from the faith (1 Timothy 4:1).
One cannot depart from something he never possessed.
WHAT ABOUT JOHN 10?
Some point to Yahusha’s words:
“No man shall pluck them out of my hand.”
Amen.
No outside force can snatch a faithful believer away from Messiah.
But that passage does not say a believer cannot choose to abandon Him through unbelief or persistent rebellion.
There is a difference between being stolen and walking away.
WHAT ABOUT ROMANS 8?
Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
Absolutely true.
Paul lists persecution, famine, nakedness, peril, sword, angels, principalities, and powers.
He does not say our own unbelief, apostasy, or rejection of Messiah is impossible.
The context is outside oppositionโnot a person’s own decision to forsake covenant.
THE PATTERN OF SCRIPTURE
Israel was redeemed from Egypt by grace.
Yet an entire generation died in the wilderness because of unbelief and disobedience.
Paul explicitly says those events were written as warnings for us (1 Corinthians 10:1โ12).
Redemption did not remove the call to remain faithful.
THE ERROR
The doctrine of “Once Saved, Always Saved” often confuses the security found in Messiah with the impossibility of apostasy.
Scripture teaches assurance.
Scripture also teaches perseverance.
Scripture teaches security.
Scripture also teaches endurance.
Scripture teaches grace.
Scripture also teaches covenant faithfulness.
These are not contradictions.
They are complementary truths.
THE BIBLICAL QUESTION
The question is not:
“Can I lose my salvation?”
The better question is:
“Am I continuing to abide in Messiah?”
Yahusha said:
“If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.” (John 8:31)
And again:
“Abide in me…” (John 15)
Branches that do not remain in the vine are cut off.
That is not my warning.
That is Yahusha’s.
The biblical message is not:
“Pray one prayer and nothing else matters.”
The biblical message is:
Repent.
Believe.
Be redeemed.
Walk in covenant.
Remain faithful.
Endure to the end.
