AGAINST THE LAW — PART 4: THE NEW COVENANT — NEW OR RENEWED?
Grace, Obedience, and the Truth Most Refuse to Face
The law was never the problem. Rebellion was.

Now we come to one of the most misunderstood, misquoted, and misapplied teachings in all of Scripture:
“The New Covenant replaced the old—so the law is gone.”
That statement is repeated constantly.
It sounds logical.
It sounds spiritual.
It sounds like progress.
But it collapses the moment you actually read the text instead of repeating tradition.
So we are not dealing with assumptions—we are dealing with what is written.
WHAT IS A COVENANT? — DEFINE IT OR YOU WILL DISTORT IT
Before you can even discuss “new” or “old,” you must define covenant.
A covenant is not a casual agreement.
A covenant is a binding relationship established by Yahuah, with defined terms, responsibilities, expectations, and accountability.
It includes:
A people
A standard
A structure of relationship
A framework of blessing and consequence
So when you say “new covenant,” you are not talking about removing the relationship.
You are talking about how that relationship is administered and lived out.
A covenant can be renewed, restored, brought into fullness.
But the standard that defines righteousness within it does not change—because it flows from Yahuah Himself.
WHAT DOES SCRIPTURE ACTUALLY SAY?
“Behold, the days come, says Yahuah, that I will make a new covenant…” (Jeremiah 31:31)
Most people stop there.
They hear “new” and assume:
Different law
Different righteousness
Different expectations
But keep reading:
“I will put My law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts…” (Jeremiah 31:33)
Stop.
If the law was removed—
What is He writing?
If the law was abolished—
What is being internalized?
The text does not say “I will remove My law.”
It says:
“I will relocate it.”
THIS IS CONTINUITY — NOT DISCONNECTION
This is not a different Elohim.
This is not a different standard.
This is not a different definition of righteousness.
This is the same covenant—brought into its intended form.
The difference is not the law.
The difference is the condition of the people.
WHAT WAS ACTUALLY WRONG WITH THE FIRST COVENANT?
Hebrews answers this directly:
“For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for the second.” (Hebrews 8:7)
Most people stop there and assume:
“The law was flawed.”
But Scripture does not allow that conclusion.
Keep reading:
“Because finding fault with them…” (Hebrews 8:8)
Not the law.
The people.
The law did not fail.
The people failed to walk in it.
THE LAW WAS NEVER THE PROBLEM
The law revealed righteousness.
The law exposed sin.
The law defined what was right and what was wrong.
But it did not change the heart.
It commanded—but did not transform.
So the new covenant is not about removing the law.
It is about changing the one who receives it.
EZEKIEL CONFIRMS THE SAME PATTERN
“I will give you a new heart… and I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes.” (Ezekiel 36:26–27)
This is critical.
The promise is not:
“I will remove My statutes.”
The promise is:
“I will cause you to walk in them.”
This is not law removal.
This is Spirit-empowered obedience.
WHAT CHANGED — AND WHAT DID NOT
This must be locked in or everything becomes confusion.
What changed:
Priesthood (Hebrews 7)
Sacrificial system (Hebrews 10)
Access to Yahuah
Mediation through Messiah
What did not change:
Righteousness
Sin
Obedience
Yahuah’s standard
If righteousness did not change—
Then the law that defines it did not disappear.
“BETTER PROMISES” — DEFINE IT CORRECTLY
Hebrews says:
“A better covenant, established upon better promises.” (Hebrews 8:6)
This does not mean:
Better law.
It means:
Better access
Better mediation
Better transformation
Better internalization
The promises improved.
The standard remained.
THE LAW WRITTEN ON THE HEART
“I will write My law on their hearts.” (Hebrews 8:10)
This is the defining difference.
Under the first covenant: The law was external.
Under the renewed covenant: The law is internal.
So now:
You do not obey because you are forced.
You obey because you are changed.
Stone → heart
External → internal
Command → transformation
THIS DESTROYS THE ENTIRE “LAW IS GONE” ARGUMENT
Because if the law is gone—
There is nothing to write.
Nothing to internalize.
Nothing to walk in.
So the existence of the new covenant proves:
The law remains.
SIN IS STILL SIN
This must be stated plainly:
Murder is still sin.
Adultery is still sin.
Idolatry is still sin.
Lying is still sin.
That did not change.
So if sin still exists—
Then the law that defines it still exists.
MESSIAH — MEDIATOR, NOT REPLACER
Messiah is called:
“The mediator of a better covenant.” (Hebrews 8:6)
A mediator does not replace the terms.
A mediator ensures they are fulfilled.
He does not erase righteousness.
He makes it possible for you to walk in it.
THE SACRIFICIAL SYSTEM — SHADOW, NOT END
The sacrificial system pointed forward.
It was never the final reality.
It was a shadow of what was coming.
Once fulfilled, the shadow ends.
But the righteousness it pointed to remains.
THE REAL ISSUE — THE HEART
The first covenant exposed rebellion.
The renewed covenant transforms it.
That is the difference.
The law never needed to change.
The heart did.
OBEDIENCE UNDER THE NEW COVENANT
Now this becomes unavoidable:
The new covenant does not lower the standard.
It raises the expectation.
Because now:
The law is within you
The Spirit empowers you
The truth is known to you
So obedience is not reduced—it is deepened.
THE CONTRADICTION THEY CANNOT ESCAPE
If the law is gone:
There is no sin
There is no need for forgiveness
There is no purpose for the new covenant
That position collapses under its own weight.
THE FULL COVENANT STRUCTURE — LOCK THIS IN
Covenant established
Law revealed
People failed
Messiah redeemed
Spirit given
Law internalized
Obedience restored
THEN VS NOW
Then: Law outside
Heart unchanged
Repeated failure
Now: Law within
Heart transformed
Obedience possible
FINAL LINE — NO ESCAPE
The new covenant did not replace the law.
It proved the law was never the issue.
It exposed the heart as the problem.
And it provided the transformation necessary to finally walk in what was always required.
The law remains.
The difference is—you are now changed.
You don’t remove sin by removing the standard—you expose it and deal with it.
