 The Sabbath Still Stands
Refuting Churchianity’s “Not Binding” Lie With the Whole Council of Elohim
If it doesn’t line up with Torah, the Prophets, the Writings, and the Apostolic Witness, it isn’t truth—it’s tradition.

This teaching is a direct refutation of the modern anti-Sabbath talking points flooding the internet—the memes, the “sin list” arguments, the “Jesus is my Sabbath” slogan, the “Holy Spirit is the seal so Sabbath is irrelevant” claim, the “Sabbath is only for Jews” replacement-theology nonsense, the “Saturday is pagan” confusion tactics, and the so-called “rightly divided” arguments used to dismantle covenant obedience while pretending to honor Scripture. This is not about defending a denomination. This is not about Seventh-day Adventism. This is not about arguing for “Saturday worship.” This is about covenant truth: the Shabbat of Yahuah, established at creation, commanded in Torah, honored by Messiah, practiced by the Apostolic ekklesia, and prophesied into the restored Kingdom. If you want the whole council of Elohim, then you don’t get to cherry-pick Paul against Moses, grace against obedience, Spirit against covenant, or “New Testament” against the foundation. That entire framework is churchianity.

And let’s begin with what must be said plainly: most anti-Sabbath arguments are not exegesis. They are excuses. They are man-made systems built to keep religious comfort intact while covenant obedience is treated as optional. Scripture never permits that. Messiah never permitted that. The Apostles never permitted that. And the end-time remnant is identified by the opposite of that.

The first deception we must expose is the “sin list” fallacy—the meme argument that says: “In Romans 1:29–32, 20 sins are listed and none is Sabbath-breaking; in 1 Corinthians 6:9–10, 10 sins are listed and none is Sabbath-breaking; therefore Sabbath is not binding.” That sounds clever to people who don’t read Scripture as covenant. But it collapses instantly because none of those lists ever claim to be exhaustive catalogs of every sin that exists. They are representative indictments, not complete law codes. By that same absurd reasoning, you could justify any number of wicked practices simply because they aren’t named in one particular list. That is not how Scripture works. Paul himself destroys the claim that faith cancels Torah: “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law” (Romans 3:31). If you “establish the law,” you don’t erase the Sabbath commandment from it and then smugly declare victory because a meme claims it didn’t show up in a list.

And that takes us straight to the covenant foundation: the Sabbath is not a random ceremonial add-on. The Sabbath sits inside the Ten Words (Exodus 20:8–11). It is part of the covenant core, spoken by Elohim, written by the finger of Elohim (Exodus 31:18), and placed in the ark as covenant testimony. It is rooted in creation itself: “And on the seventh day Elohim ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day… and Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it” (Genesis 2:2–3). That happened before Sinai, before Israel as a nation, before priesthood structures, before sacrifices, before circumcision was given to Abraham as a sign, before any “Jew vs Gentile” argument could even exist. Shabbat is creational order and covenant pattern.

So when someone says, “Sabbath is only for the Sinai generation; Adam, Noah, Abraham didn’t have it,” they are revealing the real issue: they don’t understand covenant continuity, they don’t understand creation sanctification, and they don’t understand what it means for Elohim to bless and sanctify time. Sanctification is not decorative. When Elohim sanctifies something, it is set-apart for His purpose. He does not sanctify a day and then later decide it was meaningless. The claim “made doesn’t mean commanded” is a word game. Scripture frequently establishesrealities by sanctifying and then later codifies them explicitly for a covenant community. That is exactly what happens with marriage (Genesis 2 before Sinai), clean/unclean categories (Genesis 7 before Sinai), and other covenant patterns. Sinai does not “invent” truth; it codifies and intensifies covenant obligations for a nation being formed into a set-apart kingdom (Exodus 19:5–6). That is why Yahuah can say of Abraham, centuries before Sinai: “Abraham obeyed My voice, and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws” (Genesis 26:5). Anyone who says that verse is meaningless because “Torah didn’t exist” is playing semantic games with the word “Torah,” which simply means instruction. Sinai is a historic giving of written national covenant stipulations, but it is not the beginning of Elohim instructing His people.

Now let’s hit the second deception: the “New commandment means the old commandments are gone” lie. Churchianity loves to quote John 13:34 and John 15:12: “A new commandment I give unto you, that ye love one another; as I have loved you.” Then they ask smugly: “Show me that in the Old Testament.” That is not scholarship; it’s ignorance. The Torah already commands love for neighbor: “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (Leviticus 19:18). Torah commands love for the stranger: “Love ye therefore the stranger” (Deuteronomy 10:19). Torah commands love for Yahuah: “Thou shalt love Yahuah thy Elohim with all thine heart” (Deuteronomy 6:5). Messiah did not invent love. He embodied it and intensified it by making Himself the standard and showing what covenant love looks like when it is lived perfectly. “As I have loved you” does not cancel Torah; it fulfills Torah’s intent by demonstrating the fullness of love in action. John confirms the continuity directly: “For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep His commandments: and His commandments are not grievous” (1 John 5:3). That verse annihilates the entire “love replaced commandments” myth.

Next, the third deception: “Led by the Spirit means not under the law, so Sabbath is irrelevant.” The proof text is Galatians 5:18: “But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.” Churchianity reads that as “law is over.” Scripture reads it as “you are no longer under the law as condemnation and death.” Paul’s context is not abolishing Torah; it is contrasting two dominions: flesh vs Spirit, condemnation vs life, bondage to sin vs walking in righteousness. The same Paul says: “Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of Elohim” (1 Corinthians 7:19). The same Paul says the law is holy, just, and good (Romans 7:12). The same Paul says he delights in the law of Elohim after the inward man (Romans 7:22). The same Paul says what the law could not do, Elohim did—so that “the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” (Romans 8:4). Walking in the Spirit does not abolish obedience; it produces obedience from a renewed heart. If someone uses “Spirit” language to justify lawlessness, they are not Spirit-led; they are flesh-led with religious vocabulary.

Now we deal with the fourth deception: “The Holy Spirit is the seal, so Sabbath is not a seal.” Scripture does call the Spirit a seal in the sense of ownership and guarantee (Ephesians 1:13–14). But churchianity uses that to erase covenant signs. That is a false either/or. Elohim can and does use multiple covenant signs and identifiers across time while remaining consistent in purpose. Scripture explicitly identifies the Sabbath as a sign: “Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Yahuah that doth sanctify you” (Exodus 31:13). “Moreover also I gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between Me and them” (Ezekiel 20:12); “Hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you” (Ezekiel 20:20). You don’t get to override explicit statements because you prefer a different framing. The Spirit seals the covenant people; the Sabbath functions as a covenant sign of sanctification and allegiance in time. These are not enemies. They are aligned.

The fifth deception is the loudest right now: “Saturday is pagan, therefore Sabbath keeping is pagan.” This is a confusion tactic, not an argument. The Sabbath is not “Saturday.” Saturday is a Roman naming convention. Shabbat is the seventh day in the biblical week, sanctified by Elohim. Scripture never named it Saturday. Scripture never required anyone to adopt Roman day names. Scripture defines the Sabbath by sequence and sanctification: the seventh day (Genesis 2:2–3; Exodus 20:8–11). If a man says, “Because Romans named the day, Elohim no longer owns the day,” he has elevated Rome above the Creator. If a pagan calls the sun “Sol,” that does not remove the sun from the Creator’s heavens. The pagan label doesn’t change the sanctified reality. That argument is childish, and it exists to distract from the actual issue: obedience.

The sixth deception is outright replacement theology: “Sabbath was only for Israel; Gentiles have no covenants.” That is anti-Scripture from cover to cover. Torah itself makes provision for the foreigner who joins himself to Yahuah: “One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you” (Exodus 12:49). “The stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you” (Leviticus 19:34). Isaiah prophesies foreigners joining themselves to Yahuah and keeping Sabbath: “Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Yahuah… every one that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it… even them will I bring to My holy mountain” (Isaiah 56:6–7). That is not “Jew only.” That is covenant inclusion under the King. The Apostolic writings confirm the same pattern: Gentiles are grafted into Israel’s cultivated olive tree, not planted into a separate tree (Romans 11:17–24). They become fellow citizens (Ephesians 2:11–19), not a brand-new religion disconnected from Torah foundations. Churchianity teaches Gentiles are “free” from Torah; Scripture teaches Gentiles are delivered from idolatry to serve the living Elohim in covenant faithfulness (Acts 15; 1 Thessalonians 1:9). “No covenants to Gentiles” is a doctrinal invention used to justify lawlessness while claiming “heavenly promises.”

Now the seventh deception: “Jesus is Lord, Jesus is Creator, Jesus came from heaven, Holy Spirit is seal, therefore Sabbath is redundant.” That’s not an argument. That’s a creed followed by an illegal conclusion. Scripture never says His lordship cancels His commandments. It says the opposite: “Why call ye Me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46). The kingship of Messiah makes obedience more urgent, not less. Messiah Himself kept Sabbath (Luke 4:16). He taught its proper use and rebuked man-made distortions, not the command itself (Mark 2:27–28). The Apostles continued in Sabbath rhythms as they taught and reasoned from Scripture (Acts 13:14, 42–44; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4). If someone says “Sabbath is redundant,” they are saying Messiah’s own pattern is irrelevant and the Apostolic witness is obsolete. That is lawless arrogance.

Then we bring the eighth witness: the end-time identification texts. Revelation does not identify the saints as “those who stopped caring about commandments.” Revelation identifies them by covenant markers: “And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of Elohim, and have the testimony of Yahusha” (Revelation 12:17). “Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of Elohim, and the faith of Yahusha” (Revelation 14:12). Anyone teaching commandment-lessness as the normal Christian state is preaching a gospel that cannot survive Revelation. The remnant is not identified by church attendance, doctrinal slogans, or denominational tags. They are identified by obedience and testimony.

And now we address Hebrews 4, because it destroys the lazy “Jesus is my Sabbath so I don’t keep a day” slogan. Hebrews 4 teaches that Messiah provides rest and that unbelief keeps people from entering. But the text does not erase Sabbath. It says: “There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest [sabbatismos] to the people of Elohim” (Hebrews 4:9). That’s not symbolic language alone; it’s covenant language. The weekly Sabbath is a sign and foretaste of the coming rest; it trains the people of Elohim in trust, submission, and sanctified time. Churchianity takes a spiritual truth and uses it as a crowbar to break a commandment. That is not “deeper revelation.” That is rebellion dressed as insight.

Finally, we expose the real heart of this entire war: churchianity hates the Sabbath because the Sabbath is not negotiable. It is not private. It is not “between me and my feelings.” It is time claimed by the King. It confronts modern idolatry—work, commerce, entertainment, self-rule, and religious convenience. The Sabbath forces a decision: Who owns your time? Who governs your week? Who is your master? That is why anti-Sabbath doctrine spreads so easily. It gives men permission to remain sovereign over their own lives while still claiming faith.

So let the record be clear: the meme is false. The “sin list” argument is invalid. The “Spirit means lawless” claim is a lie. The “new commandment cancels Torah” doctrine is ignorant. The “Gentiles have no covenant” claim is replacement theology. The “Saturday is pagan” line is a distraction. And the “Sabbath is redundant” slogan is a direct contradiction of creation, Torah, Messiah, Apostolic practice, prophecy, and Revelation.

The truth is simple and immovable: the Sabbath is Yahuah’s sanctified time. It is covenant sign. It is obedience training. It is eschatological marker. And it stands as a dividing line between those who submit to the King and those who want salvation language without covenant allegiance.

If you want the Kingdom, you don’t get to call obedience bondage. You don’t get to call covenant “legalism.” You don’t get to call the commandments “optional.” And you don’t get to take Paul and use him to overthrow the foundation he himself said is established.

Blessed are those who do His commandments.
