Why the Roman “Jesus” Is Not the Hebraic Yahusha of Scripture

I. SETTING THE STAGE – THIS ISN’T A “WORD PREFERENCE” ISSUE
Let’s state the facts plainly, without assumptions and without myths: multitudes have been misled into believing that any name the church system hands them must automatically be true, accurate, and inspired. The name “Jesus” is treated as untouchable. Question it, and you’re accused of heresy. But once you test it against Scripture, language, and history, it collapses.
This is not about “Hebrew snobbery” or style. It is about identity and truth. A false name points to a false construct. A false construct points to a false doctrine. And a false doctrine points to a false messiah. Yahusha warned explicitly of many coming in His Name and deceiving many (Matt 24:5, 24). The question is not, “Are you emotional about your tradition?” The question is, “Does your ‘Jesus’ match Torah, the Prophets, and the Apostolic Writings—or Rome?”
II. THE SCRIPTURAL STANDARD – HE MUST COME IN THE FATHER’S NAME
Yahusha Himself lays down the standard:
“I have come in My Father’s Name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.” (John 5:43)
The Name of the Father is embedded in Yahuah (יהוה vocalized here as Yahuah). The Son comes in that Name. The covenant pattern is clear in Hebrew:
- Yehoshua / Yahusha: “Yahuah is salvation / Yahuah saves.”
- The salvific root y-š-ʿ (ישע) = “to save, to deliver” is universally recognized.
The true Mashiach must:
- Bear the Father’s Name.
- Uphold the Father’s Torah (Deut 13:1–5; Matt 5:17–19).
- Align perfectly with what was written in Mosheh, the Prophets, and the Psalms (Luke 24:27, 44).
Any “messiah” that breaks Torah, changes Yahuah’s times and laws, or erases the Father’s Name is exposed as a counterfeit.
III. FOLLOWING THE NAME THROUGH HISTORY – FROM YEHOSHUA TO JESUS
Even mainstream sources admit the historical trail:
- Original Hebrew: Yehoshua → shortened to Yeshua in Second Temple period.
- Greek: ישוע (Yeshua) transliterated to Ἰησοῦς (Iēsous) in the Septuagint and NT Greek.
- Latin: Iēsous → Iesus.
- Old / Middle English: Iesus / Ihesus.
- Modern English: “Jesus,” only after the letter J is distinguished from I in the 16th–17th centuries.
There is no “J” sound in Hebrew; it’s a late Western development.
So the spelling and sound “Jesus” did not exist in the days of the apostles. That alone should sober anyone who thinks the English form dropped out of heaven.
Does this linguistic trail prove intentional pagan conspiracy all by itself? No. But it proves this beyond dispute: “Jesus” is a late, layered transliteration, not the original, covenant-embedded Name spoken by Miriam, Yoseph, or the talmidim.
IV. THE IHS FORMULA AND THE LATIN CHURCH – NOT HEBRAIC, NOT COVENANTAL
The widely used “IHS” monogram is admitted even in Catholic sources to be a Christogram—simply the first three Greek letters of Ἰησοῦς, rendered in Latin characters IHS (I–H–S).
Over time, this symbol was:
- Decorated with a blazing sun (Bernardino of Siena).
- Adopted as the emblem of the Jesuits with sun imagery and nails.
Whether you judge that as innocent or as syncretic, the undeniable fact is: this is a Latin–Greek church emblem, not a Hebraic revelation. It is an ecclesiastical brand stamped on altars, vestments, and architecture. It is not rooted in the covenant Name Yahuah, nor in the Hebraic identity of the Mashiach. It belongs to the same religious system that hunted, silenced, and burned those who kept Torah and rejected Rome’s authority.
V. CONSTANTINE AND THE MERGED RELIGION – SOL INVICTUS IN CHURCH CLOTHING
Historically, Constantine maintained strong association with Sol Invictus, the “Unconquered Sun,” even as he patronized Christianity.
He:
- Promoted Sunday (Dies Solis) as the imperial day of rest—explicitly the “day of the sun.”
- Used sun imagery alongside Christian symbols.
- Oversaw a fusion of imperial power, solar cult language, and emerging catholic theology.
The result was not the restoration of the faith once delivered to the set-apart ones (Jude 3), but a state-controlled hybrid religion. Out of that system the Roman “Jesus” develops—a figure whose teachings (as preached by the church) conveniently align with imperial control and lawlessness:
- Torah “abolished.”
- Shabbat shifted.
- Moedim replaced with Roman festivals.
- Israel replaced by “the Church.”
- Yahuah’s Name buried under titles and Latin forms.
That is not the Yahusha described in the Apostolic Writings, who declared:
“Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.” (Matt 5:17–19)
“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)
A messiah who legitimizes rebellion against Torah fails the Deuteronomy 13 test and is not from Yahuah.
VI. YAHUSHA VS. CHURCH JESUS – TWO DIFFERENT MESSIAHS
YAHUSHA (Hebraic, covenantal):
– Name carries Yahuah’s Name and salvation.
– Born, lived, and died as a Torah-keeper.
– Taught that even the least of the commandments mattered (Matt 5:19).
– Walked as the embodiment of Yahuah’s covenant faithfulness.
– Sent His followers to teach all nations to obey all He commanded (Matt 28:18–20).
CHURCH “JESUS” (Roman–gentile construct):
– Name does not carry Yahuah’s Name.
– Portrayed as abolishing Torah “on the cross.”
– Used to justify changing Yahuah’s appointed times.
– Disconnected from Israel; used to support replacement theology.
– Packaged to fit pagan calendars, imperial politics, and gentile comfort.
Same rough storyline, different spirit, different law, different Name, different fruits. Yahusha Himself warned that many would say “Master, Master,” yet be rejected for one core reason: “Depart from Me, you who work lawlessness (anomia).” (Matt 7:21–23)
VII. TESTING NAMES AND SYSTEMS – AUTHENTICITY, ACCURACY, AUTHORSHIP, AUTHORITY
Apply the fourfold test:
- Authenticity – Does this name and system trace back demonstrably to the Hebrew apostles, or to later Greek–Latin church development? “Jesus” as pronounced and spelled today is admittedly post–Reformation English.
- Accuracy – Does the doctrine attached to this name fully align with Torah and the Prophets (Isa 8:20)? If the “Jesus” you preach cancels Torah, he fails the test.
- Authorship – Who actually built this theological system—Yahusha and His emissaries, or councils, bishops, and emperors?
- Authority – Does Scripture ever present this Hellenized, Romanized construct as the standard of faith and obedience, or is it the creation of post-biblical religion?
When you are honest, you see it: what modern Christianity defends as “Jesus” is largely the product of Constantinian and post-Constantinian church history, not the pure apostolic faith rooted in Yahusha, Torah, and covenant.
VIII. THE REMNANT RESPONSE – COME OUT OF THE NAME AND SYSTEM OF BABYLON
Revelation records a voice from heaven:
“Come out of her, My people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues.” (Rev 18:4)
That is more than geography; it is theological and spiritual separation. It is a call to:
- Renounce the counterfeit construct.
- Return to the Hebrew Mashiach, Yahusha.
- Restore the covenant order of Yahuah’s Torah.
- Call on His true Name in spirit and in truth.
This is not about pretending the Greek manuscripts don’t exist or denying that a historical Mashiach walked the earth. It is about refusing to bow to a Roman image created in His place—a name–system–identity package that has led billions into lawlessness while promising them “grace.”
The world will cling to the easy, generic “Jesus” who asks nothing and affirms everything.
The remnant will cling to Yahusha, who confronts sin, restores Torah, and calls us into a set-apart, obedient covenant life with Yahuah.
That is the dividing line.
That is the issue.
And that is why the Name matters.
